Ashleigh Megan Plumptre, born on the 8th day of May 1998, is a professional football player from Leicester. She plays as a centre-back for the Nigerian national team. She used to play for England’s youth teams before making her debut for Nigeria in February 2022.

During her younger years, Plumptre started playing football at 4 with Asfordby Amateurs. Later, she joined Leicester City’s youth team and spent seven years playing from under-10 to under-15 levels.

She then moved to Birmingham City’s under-17 team in 2013, even training with the senior team. She briefly joined Derby County’s third-tier women’s team in 2014.

Plumptre joined Notts County, a top women’s team, in 2014. She made her debut at the age of 16 and became the youngest Notts County player. She played for Notts County for a while, even reaching a cup final.

Later, she moved to the United States to play college soccer for the University of Southern California (USC) in 2016. She played well and won a national championship with USC.

Ashleigh played for LA Galaxy OC in a different league during the college off-season. She then returned to England and joined Leicester City Women’s team in the FA Women’s Championship.

Plumptre represented England at various youth levels before deciding to play for Nigeria. She had a Nigerian connection through her grandfather.
