Guido moved to Defensa y Justicia (on loan). This is an Argentine football club from Florencio Varela, Buenos Aires. Not many fans know that the Soccer club gave Lisandro Martinez the platform to achieve fame – before his move to Ajax. In Defense and Justice, under the command of Ariel Holan, Guido Rodriguez also had his definitive takeoff.

Happiness in Mexico:

In 2016, the quest to play football abroad overtook his thoughts. The Argentine Defensive midfielder, rejected by River Plate, found refuge with Tijuana. While at Tijuana, Guido found other Argentines in his team who made him settle at his new club. Thankfully, the promising youngster, who was no longer in exile, found that the grass was greener with his new club. While playing for Tijuana, Guido scored these amazing goals.

After a season of success with the club, the Argentine earned himself a transfer to Club América. While there, Guido Rodriguez reunited with former Tijuana manager Miguel Herrera – who trusted him at his former club (Tijuana).

While playing for this reputable Mexican club, which once had a Legendary goalkeeper like Guillermo Ochoa, the native of Sáenz Peña achieved a meteoric rise.

Because of that, Jorge Sampaoli, the former Argentine coach, gave Guido Rodriguez a surprised first call-up with the Argentina national team.

The hopes for the 2018 FIFA World Cup were dashed away when Sampaoli selected Ever Banega, Javier Mascherano and Manuel Lanzini ahead of him.

Following the departure of Jorge Sampaoli, Guido Rodriguez found himself being favoured by the next coach, Lionel Scaloni.

Nicknamed ‘Chacal’, the Baller behind a Barcelona transfer pursuit was born to Zulma de Pasqua (his Mum) on the 12th day of April 1994. The Defensive Midfielder spent his childhood days alongside his brother (Emi or Emiliano Rogriguez) at their birthplace, Sáenz Peña, Argentina. His grandparents, notably Manuel Oscar (his late granddad), made his childhood worthwhile.

Guido Rodriguez’s family origin is traced to Italy. He identifies with the Italian Argentines, which is the largest ethnic origin of modern Argentina after the Spanish immigration. The Baller has humble beginnings, and he was raised by middle-class parents who have kept him grounded.

Like many young Argentine kids, Guido was a boy with soccer talent. He began his career at category 94 of the Cristo Rey – José María Bosch club. Unknown to many fans, Guido and Leandro Paredes began their career with the same club.

After helping his team to become champions for five consecutive seasons, he was found worthy by River Plate. With the Argentine powerhouse, Guido established himself as a leader, helping his youth team win major honours. Also, at that time, he became a father to a daughter (Fran) with his girlfriend (Guadalupe ‘Wada’ Ramón) – who is now his wife.

A slow start to his senior career followed as the youngster found that he wasn’t favoured by his coach. Guido then pushed for a loan move to Defensa y Justicia before accepting an offer to play his football with Tijuana, a Mexican club.

While in Tijuana, Guido Rodriguez’s manager (Miguel Herrera) placed 100% trust in him. When the manager of the club moved to Club América, a bigger Argentine club, he made Guido follow him. With América, Guido received a national team call, and he won the Liga and Copa MX trophies.

Recognizing his achievement in Mexico, Real Betis won the race to sign Guido. While there, he won the 2021/2022 Copa del Rey. Guido also helped Argentina to win the 2021 Copa América and the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions trophy.
