As a young boy growing up in the small neighbourhood of Zaragoza, Antioquia, Jader always had a ball at his feet. Like many kids from humble backgrounds, playing street football created fond memories, and this is where Jhon’s journey to greatness began.

Jhon followed the likes of Yamine Lamal and Jude Bellingham, who graduated from their academies before they could reach 17.

On the 23rd day of January 2023, Unai Emery’s premier league side announced that they had signed Durán. The Spanish coach wanted a foreign player who could compete for places with Cameron Archer.

Jhon’s transfer to Aston Villa has £3.3m of add-ons and a transfer fee reported to be £14.75m. Indeed, Douglas Luiz joins Jhon Duran as South Americans who have written their names in the Villans history books. The rest, as they say, is now history.
