Growing up in Lyon, young Zouma was not initially interested in playing football. In fact, he preferred playing basketball.

By the time Zouma was aged 9, he had tried playing football at the local Vaulx-en-Velin and realized that he was extremely good at it.

On April 2, 2011, Kurt Zouma signed his first professional contract with Saint-Étienne. Just a few months later, on August 31, 2011, he made his professional debut in a Coupe de la Ligue match against Bordeaux.

Zouma played a key role in helping Saint-Étienne win the Coupe de la Ligue title in 2013, setting the stage for a promising career with top-flight clubs.

The centre-back had a thrilling debut for Chelsea in a pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers. Wearing the number 5 jersey, Zouma made a remarkable impact in his first full season, contributing to Chelsea’s victories in both the League Cup and the Premier League in 2015.
