Approaching the age of 10, Boadu’s talent began to look so natural, like he was born to play football.

The Amsterdammer followed Reginald’s (his elder brother’s) footsteps. He ended up joining his brother’s team – FC Bijlmer.

Two years later (age 12), Myron Boadu totally abandoned his books after knowing football was a realistic option. During this time, he had switched to SC Buitenveldert. This is another Dutch academy in Amsterdam. As seen in the map below, his new club was just a stone’s throw from the former.

In his second season with SC Buitenveldert, big clubs with better academies began showing an interest in him.

Recognizing he was among the brightest kids in their Amsterdam neighbourhood, Ajax became so desperate to invite the youngster for trials. To have a taste of his quality, they placed Myron on an internship.

At first, everything went smoothly, not until Ajax’s youth management summoned him – for reasons he knew not. Myron Boadu never expected the shocking negative outcome of that meeting.

In only one match, I scored once and felt I had gone well. I was convinced they would single me out for praises.

When I went in for a private interview, I was shocked to hear I would return to Buitenveldert, my old team.
