The London Borough of Barnet, where his Mum had him, is a suburban London borough in North London.

Noni Madueke Family Origin:
Although born in the UK, Noni Madueke is of Nigerian descent. This makes his nationality dual—both English and Nigerian. Ethnically, he is considered Black British.
During our research into his African heritage, we discovered that Noni Madueke’s parents belong to the Igbo ethnic group from Eastern Nigeria, similar to French footballer Lesley Ugochukwu, German player Felix Nmecha, and English star Eberechi Eze. This background highlights his strong familial ties to both his paternal and maternal roots.
The fact that Noni Madueke’s family is Igbo means he could be from any of these Nigerian states – Abia, Anambra (Calvin Bassey‘s state through his Dad), Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo. These states make up – what people refer to as Igboland in Nigeria.
Noni Madueke Education and Career Build-Up:
Education in Barnet was essential, but Noni Madueke’s primary focus was playing football in a Sunday League team. He began with King George FC in Welwyn Garden City, where he played Saturday football and resided in Hatfield. He joined the team after being placed on a waiting list for children’s training groups.
Noni’s talent was evident from the beginning, but more than that, he was eager to learn. As he played extensively in local football, Noni believed his skills met the minimum requirement to catch the eye of scouts.
His belief was affirmed when a football scout from Crystal Palace FC took notice of him during a London tournament where Noni stood out above all others. Without hesitation, the Crystal Palace scout approached him and praised his abilities.
Noni Madueke Football Story:
The youngster’s parents were approached, and he received an invitation to attend academy trials in South London.
To everyone’s joy, Noni Madueke successfully passed the trials, which led to his enrollment in the Crystal Palace Academy—a significant journey from his origins in South London.
As I write this biography, many football fans are unaware that Noni Madueke once played for the Crystal Palace Academy. Often, he is primarily recognized for his move from Tottenham to PSV.
Nonetheless, Noni fondly remembers his time at the Crystal Palace Academy as some of the best years in his early football career. He has reflected on this period, saying:
“Some of the best times of my career so far were during my youth days at Crystal Palace.”
Madueke started his football academy journey later than the average age, beginning at 10 with the Under 10s at Crystal Palace.
Two years later, his parents agreed to allow him to pursue further opportunities in larger football academies.
Among these prestigious clubs, Tottenham Hotspur Academy showed the most interest in recruiting Noni Madueke.
At the age of 14, the young talent successfully underwent a trial with Spurs and secured a place in their academy.
The Road to Fame Story:
The Speedy winger had a solid start to life with Tottenham Hotspur academy.
Coupled with his impressive performance for them, Noni also displayed lots of maturity for his young age. Because of that, the academy management made him captain of his age group.
At Spurs academy, Madueke was an electric wild winger who performed excellently in all areas of attack.
He functioned well as both a striker, an offensive midfielder, right and left-wing. Noni showed excellent ball control at an early age and the ability to score tons of goals.
In his first season for Tottenham academy, he scored 25 goals in 22 games. While in the academy, Madueke lived by a code that always reminded him of the importance of making good goalscoring stats. With that mindset, he excelled further – even picking up an award.
To the joy of Noni Madueke’s family, their boy got national recognition. The management of England’s U-16 team recognized and rewarded his efforts at Spurs academy. They called him to represent the country at the youth level.
During this time, Noni quickly gathered attention from Manchester United, Chelsea, and other clubs around Europe. Noni Madueke’s parents looked at the options on hand and decided on what would be the best for their son’s future.
The Pivotal Moment of his Life:
While he was a hotcake at Tottenham, the level-headed teenager began understudying footballers above him who had made breakthroughs.
He also took a particular interest in the decisions made by these people that brought huge turning points in their careers.
One particular footballer, Jadon Sancho, became the one he took a particular interest in. Sancho left Man City academy and then went abroad at an early age – where he achieved lots of success. That fueled Noni Madueke’s decision to travel abroad.
The Barnet native discovered that in England, competition makes it very difficult for young talents to get playing in the first team of popular football clubs.
Again, the squads of top clubs are very large, and there is very little room for youngsters.
Noni was real to himself about not waiting for first-team football at Spurs. He knew it would be difficult for him to replace stars like Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura. Also, he was likely to start behind a player like Erik Lamela. Hence the move to playing abroad.
Noni Madueke Biography – Rise to Fame Story:
Fearing they would lose him, Tottenham offered Noni a contract. The ambitious 16-year-old refused, stating he wanted to expand his horizons.
Other clubs like Manchester United saw an opportunity and came begging for his signature. Noni Madueke refused almighty United.
In an interview conducted a year later, Noni said this about leaving England.
Why did Noni Madueke choose PSV instead of Dortmund?
The footballer’s idea of going abroad wasn’t to follow Jadon Sancho’s choice of club. Noni chose PSV because the club had a reputation for grooming legends. The likes of Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, Romario, Cody Gakpo and Memphis Depay all started out their senior careers there.
Another reason is that life in the environment where PSV is located is relatively quiet – and the people there are humble. The PSV training ground is situated in a nice area – where there is very crime and negative influences.
The environment and low crime rate make it a perfect place for a youngster to go and fully focus on football without any distractions. More so, most Dutch people speak English. That is another factor that persuaded Madueke to move there with his Mother and Sister.
Life in the Netherlands:
At the tender age of 16, he signed a three years contract with PSV and was placed in their U-19 side. Behold Noni and his Dad during his presentation.
In his first appearance at PSV Academy, Madueke scored three and assisted two – which is abnormal for someone playing above his age category. Before he knew it, a promotion worked for him to leave the academy for reserve team football.
Madueke began the 2019/2020 season with Jong PSV, a junior team of the club that plays in the Dutch league second tier. In his first eleven matches, he made a ridiculous fifteen-goal contribution.
Did you know?… one man was very integral in Noni Madueke’s development at Jong PSV – the same way he did to Gianluca Scamacca. He is no other than the Ex-United and Dutch Legend, Ruud van Nistelrooy. He taught Noni how to work on his finishing abilities. That made him become more lethal in front of goal.
PSV Senior Team Rise:
The arrival of PSV coach Roger Schmidt, a man that likes the pressing style of football, favoured Noni Madueke. Falling in love with the boy’s trickery and speed, he quickly promoted him to the PSV’s first team.
With the PSV big boys, Noni saw himself sharing the same dressing room with superstars like Steven Bergwijn (winger), Luuk de Jong (forward), Denzel Dumfries (right-back) and Donyell Malen (winger).
With the departure of Bergwijn and Marlen, Roger Schmidt gave Noni Madueke the huge responsibility of pushing the club to glory. In that season, the astronomical talent delivered the goods.
Behold Noni Madueke’s glorious moments, one that made football pundits label him as the sensation of PSV that makes Europe salivate.
As I write this Bio, Madueke’s eye-catching displays have made him start every game under Roger Schmidt. With so much confidence in his gameplay, the youngster helped PSV win the 2021 Johan Cruyff Shield.
Being a left-footed player who can perform well at the right winger, we see Noni Madueke’s future as more in the Mohamed Salah mode. Certainly, he won’t stay long at PSV. Now the question is, where next for the English Robben?. The rest of his Biography is now history.
