Rasmus Hojlund Biography – From his childhood years in Hørsholm to the moment he achieved fame.

In 2023, many football fans have described the Denmark Bomber as the ‘other Haaland’ who is thriving with Atalanta BC.

And from the international scene, Rasmus, at the start of 2023, became Denmark’s most popular player.

With rocket speed, he has gone from being a frustrated FC Copenhagen substitute to becoming one of Europe’s hottest football names.

While writing the stories of Danish football forwards, we found areas that have not been covered.

The truth is, not many football fans have read a comprehensive piece of Rasmus Hojlund’s Biography, which is super exciting.

So, we have prepared this article to satisfy your search intent about the Dane. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Rasmus Hojlund Childhood Story:

For Biography starters, he bears the nickname; “The New Erling Haaland”. And his full names are Rasmus Winther Højlund.

The Dane was born on Tuesday, February 4, 2003, in Copenhagen to his parents, Anders Højlund and Kirsten Winther.

Rasmus Hojlund is the first child and son among three children (himself and two brothers) born to the union between their Dad and Mum.

Now, let’s introduce you to Rasmus Hojlund’s Parents. People often refer to Anders and Kirsten as jovial individuals.

A couple who have instilled in their children the importance of pursuing their dreams and keeping their family’s sporting image intact.

Growing-Up Years:

Anders Højlund and Kirsten Winther (Rasmus’ parents) raised a family of three soldiers. We talk about a household filled with male children and zero females.

Put simply, Rasmus has no sister(s) but two brothers who are twins. Oscar and Emil Hojlung are their names, and it will interest you to know that they are also professional footballers.

The Danish Forward and his twin brothers (Oscar and Emil) were raised in Hørsholm. They grew up in an urban area on the Øresund coast, around 25 km north of Copenhagen.

The three Højlund brothers share a close bond and have been inseparable since they were young.

The power of Brotherhood: Rasmus, Oscar, and Emil Højlund demonstrate their unbreakable bond as brothers.

Rasmus Hojlund’s Early Life:

Just like Harvey Elliott, he has his first kick of the ball at the beach at the age of two. It happened when Rasmus Hojlund’s parents took him to a beach – at the time he was a toddler.

To Anders’s surprise, his son suddenly became attracted to a beach ball that was bigger than him. Rasmus paid zero attention to other beach activities other than kicking the ball with his left foot.

It was at this moment that his Dad, Anders, knew his son was both left-handed and left-footed. In the case of Harvey Elliott (the English footballer), he (who was also a toddler at that time) disgraced a beach game organizer.

Getting home after a fun-filled day at the beach, an excited Rasmus (who was bought a ball) would go on to kick the object at every corner of his family’s living room.

The future Danish forward was less than two years old when he began kicking the ball. Shooting the ball at home soon became a play activity that brought joy between Rasmus and his Dad.

In an interview with The Tip Sheet Magazine, a weekly Danish sports magazine focusing on football, Anders Højlund once said,

Whenever I threw the ball over to Rasmus, he kicked with his left leg. As a former soccer player myself, I know that being left-footed provides better conditions for reaching far in this modern football world.

Love for other Sports:

From the moment he had his first kick of the ball at the beach, Anders Højlund knew his son was destined to be an Athlete.

In fact, Rasmus was driven by other physical activities when he was a child. Aside from football, the Dane, just like Charles De Ketelaere, practised tennis. Rasmus also played badminton and was very outstanding at swimming.

In their own way of supporting their son, Rasmus Hojlund’s parents agreed to enrol him at a swimming club.

Unknown to Anders and Kirsten, little did they know that their son would rank as one of the most talented kid swimmers in Denmark’s Capital Region.

Yes, it took Anders Højlund by surprise when a staff of his son’s swimming club called him. According to Rasmus’ Dad,

One day a staff suddenly called from the swimming club and said that Rasmus had a great talent for swimming.

He then asked for permission to make my son formerly begin a swimming career, including moving him up the system.

Just after the call was placed to Anders Højlund, he noticed his son had set some of the best times (a junior’s record) in Denmark’s swimming.

Already at that time, young Rasmus was being celebrated as one of the best swimmers in his hometown.

Before that, Rasmus’ parents had no idea that their son was one of the best. If not, the fastest kid swimmers in their hometown.

Staying with Football:

Although Rasmus was always driven by different sports, he knew he (just like Gianluca Scamacca) would make a decision to settle with one as he grew older.

The boy’s love for football has always weighed heavily over other sports – tennis, badminton and swimming.

At some time in his early years, young Rasmus stood at a crossroads, especially when he was nine years old. At this age, he was forced to make the crucial decision of picking and focusing on only one sport.

Deep down in Rasmus Hojlund’s mind, he has always wanted to continue with football. The young Dane had zero doubts about his talent and competitiveness in the sport. In the words of Anders Højlund, his Dad;

Rasmus had no doubt about his football talent.

After all, he saw himself as being competitive.

But he also thought that his swimming hobby was fun.

the ultimate love for sports was deeply rooted in football.

Rasmus Hojlund Family Background:

The Athlete, who was one of Denmark’s most talented kid swimmers, was raised in a rich football household.

Rasmus Højlund’s brothers, including himself, inherited their sporting talents from both parents. Now, let’s tell you more about the couple, Anders Højlund and  Kirsten Winther.

Rasmus Hojlund’s Dad, Anders, is a retired footballer who once played as captain of Boldklubben af 1893. Known as B.93, this is a Danish football club in Østerbro, Copenhagen, currently playing in the country’s 2nd Division league.

Interestingly, Rasmus Hojlund’s twin brothers (Emil and Oscar) are footballers like him. While Emil prides himself as a striker, Oscar sits more comfortably in the midfield.

Aside from playing football, the Hojlund family loved visiting the stadium to watch their favourite team.

Attending matches to cheer for their beloved hometown team (F.C. Copenhagen) has for a long time become a part of the Hojlund family’s DNA.

Anders and Kirsten nurtured a thriving, middle-class household that has always found happiness in the shared experience of football.

Now, let’s tell you about Rasmus Hojlund’s mother’s occupation. Results from our research show that Kirsten Winther was once a 100-meter sprinter.

As a former athlete married to a retired footballer, it’s no surprise that their children inherited their parents’ athletic prowess.

The family’s basement pitch:

Rasmus and his two equally football-obsessed twin brothers, Emil and Oscar, had a deep passion for playing football at home.

Anticipating their children’s future, their parents agreed to create a conducive football environment within their family home.

Aware that they were nurturing three devoted football enthusiasts, Anders and Kirsten prudently endorsed the construction of a small-sized football pitch in their basement.

The purpose was to prevent their sons from inadvertently damaging fragile objects in the family’s living room owing to their energetic ball plays.

Referring to the basement that prevented their living room from being damaged by their son’s enthusiasm for football, Anders Højlund once remarked:

“We created a football field in the basement, measuring ten meters in length, six meters in width, with a ceiling height of three meters.”

Rasmus and his twin brothers, Oscar and Emil, pictured playing football in their basement. The Hojlund family's basement football pitch was designed to protect their living room from the boys' energetic play.

Rasmus Hojlund Family Origin:

As revealed by his Transfermk page, the Athlete has only Denmark citizenship to his name.

This implies that both of Rasmus Hojlund’s parents are Danish nationals. Now, let’s tell you the meaning of his Dad and Mum’s names.

Rasmus Hojlund’s mother’s family name, Winther, is a surname of Scandinavian origin, primarily Danish and Norwegian.

Further research on the name “Winther” shows it was derived from the Old Norse word “Vetr,” which means “winter.”

On the other hand, Højlund, which is his Dane’s surname, derived its meaning from two elements. The first is “høj,” which means “high” or “hill” in Danish, and the other is “lund,” which means “grove” or “small forest.”

Hørsholm, situated north of Copenhagen (the Capital of Denmark), is where Rasmus Hojlund’s family call home.

Pictured in the map below, this town has a rich history dating back to the 12th century and is known for its beautiful landscapes and green spaces.

Hørsholm, the picturesque hometown of Rasmus Hojlund's family, lies north of Denmark's capital, Copenhagen.

Rasmus Højlund Ethnicity:

The family of the Copenhagen Forward are among the 86.9% of his country’s population who describe themselves as Danes.

Also, in our research, we found that Højlund’s roots and ancestry is traced to the North Germanic ethnic group native to Denmark.

Rasmus Højlund Education:

When the time got right, the Athlete (before age 6) began his pre-schooling (Alder), where the focus was on his emotional development and social skills.

When Rasmus Højlund began his primary education (Folkeskole), he was already part of the Hørsholm-Usserød football setup.

The most memorable school moment for Rasmus Højlund happened when he was in 2nd or 3rd grade.

On that day, which happens to be a sports day, kids were asked to run a 400-meter race. Rasmus, at that time, suffered from a broken finger. Despite that, he did the unimaginable.

In the middle of the race, the bandage Rasmus used to tie his broken finger came off. Observing that, he quickly stopped the race and quickly ran to his mother’s side. Rasmus Hojlund’s Mum immediately helped her son put the bandage back in place.

Despite all of the other kids being further ahead in the race, the young Dane decided to rejoin. To the shock of all spectators, Rasmus still managed to catch up with his race opponents.

Considering his parents were once professional athletes, it is not surprising to see Hojlund’s athletic ability bringing him so much success in his early years.

Football Beginnings:

At the tender age of four, Rasmus Højlund started playing football with Hørsholm-Usserød (his first academy).

During that time, his soccer talent wasn’t very clear to his family, and he was allowed to explore other sporting options like tennis and badminton.

When he got to age nine, Rasmus, while still playing for Hørsholm-Usserød, decided to abandon all other sports to concentrate solely on football.

From that moment (the year 2012), the beautiful game dominated the life of the young Dane.

Højlund, who had earned his first-ever trophy, had a personal relationship with one of the local heroes of the game.

Having won his first-ever trophy, Højlund forged a personal connection with a local legend of the sport.

Having won his first-ever trophy, Højlund forged a personal connection with a local legend of the sport.

From the local scene, the Dane was a big fan of Nicklas Bendtner, the former Arsenal and Danish professional footballer. Rasmus Hojlund’s family and Bendtner knew each other.

As a boy, he would follow Nicklas Bendtner closely to his football training sessions in Helsingør, a port city in eastern Denmark. Learning from the ex-Arsenal footballer has always been a cool memory.

Also, in his early football years, Rasmus openly displayed his passion for Manchester United. He supported the great English club mostly because of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. Following CR7’s move to Real Madrid, the Dane tilted his support for the Spanish club.

Taking football more seriously:

Back then, when training at the childhood club Hørsholm-Usserød was over, Rasmus and his twin brothers (Oscar and Emil) would proceed to their family basement to continue the sport.

It was always about football for the Hojlund brothers as well as enjoying FIFA on their PlayStation. When you enter their home, it is hard to see the wall of Rasmus, Emil and Oscar’s room as it was plastered with football posters.

Rasmus Hojlund’s football potential began to become clearer to his family at the time he transferred to Brøndby IF. The 12-year-old’s talent was discovered at the club, and after less than a year with them, the biggest club in Denmark (FC Copenhagen) came knocking at the door.

The Young Talent spent the 2016–2017 season with the local team Holbæk FC before joining FC Copenhagen’s academy at the start of the 2017/2018 season.

Like any other Dane, the joys of Rasmus Hojlund’s family knew no bounds upon witnessing one of their own joining a club that has dominated Danish football for decades.

With F.C. Copenhagen, the Emerging talent soon became the highlight of their youth squads.

Our research shows that Rasmus Hojlund was converted into a full-blown striker after he joined the club. Severally, he (at the under-19 level) was praised for his speed and physicality – his deadliest weapon.

The Journey to Fame:

The Striker, who was very popular in the youth arm of the F.C. Copenhagen, had hoped to begin his senior career with the club.

And to the joy of Rasmus Hojlund’s parents, their breadwinner child made his official debut for the club in 2020 (at 17 years old). Have you listened to his great debut speech?

Because of injuries in the Copenhagen attack, a teenage Rasmus was allowed to have some minutes while coming off the bench.

Little by little, the Attacker earned his spot by showing his scoring prowess. Two months after his debut, Rasmus Hojlund was awarded a new contract by the Scandinavian club.

As Rasmus Hojlund re-signed with FC Copenhagen, his twin brothers had already begun making strides in the club’s youth ranks.

Oscar and Emil played for Copenhagen’s under-17 team, where they tasted victories and the joys of trophy celebrations.

The Højlund twin brothers, Oscar and Emil, excelled at Copenhagen's under-17 team, while their big brother (Rasmus) played for the senior side.

Difficult moments:

Rasmus Højlund progressed very quickly from FC Copenhagen’s U19 team to the club’s first team within a season.

Initially, he was used by coach Stale Solbakken as a substitute. Thanks to a strong mentality, he started well by contributing five goals in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The arrival of a new manager, Jess Thorup, from the Belgian club, KRC Genk, complicated the career of the Danish Forward.

Upon his arrival, it soon became obvious that the new manager came with his plan to bring his own Strikers. In that 2021/2022 season, the club signed Khouma Babacar, Nicolai Jørgensen and Mamoudou Karamoko.

With the arrival of experienced Forwards, Poor Rasmus Højlund was unjustly frozen out of the squad. With very limited game time, it became an indirect way of telling him to find another club.

Højlund, who wasn’t given any opportunity to show his worth, had to make the difficult choice of saying goodbye to the club of childhood.

The Danish footballer once agreed that he suffered the biggest defeat of his career when he got ejected from FC Copenhagen.

This is the football club of his childhood, a club where he has had their jersey and had hoped to become successful with them since he was three.

Rasmus Højlund and his teammate, Jonas Wind (FC Copenhagen’s highest goal scorer in the 2020/2021 season), left the club simultaneously.

Sturm Graz, an Austrian Bundesliga club, acquired Rasmus’s services for a reported fee of €1.8 million.

According to Rasmus Højlund’s Dad, Anders:

The former B.93 striker and Father of the three football brothers once gave his own side of the story. Anders’ words were based on his son’s own view in terms of how badly he was treated by Football Club Copenhagen. Speaking to a Frihedsbrevet’s football newsletter Fri Spark, Højlund’s father, remarked;

“Rasmus mostly got 10, 12 or 15 minutes where he was instructed to only hunt around.
A few stats he got was when the manager Jess Thorup came under Corona. That is not good for a 17 or 18 year old. The club never gave him a real chance. Rasmus only got six months as a regular in the first team.
And then you might think it was not difficult to say yes when Sturm Graz approached him. Of course, it was insanely difficult to leave Copenhagen.
FCK still remains Rasmus’ biggest crush. There was actually room for him to explore his potential in the team, but they never gave him a chance. FCK just didn’t do that.

Success Story:

The Danish professional footballer, who was given proper first-team football at Sturm Graz, achieved a meteoric rise with the club. Continuing from his discussion above, Rasmus Hojlund’s Dad once explained the reason why his son had the success that did not work with his previous club. According to Anders,

“It is because FC Copenhagen plays football in a longitudinal direction. It is becoming a tendency in Danish football, especially with FCK. There is too much across and back, too much ball massage.
In Sturm Graz, they put the ball into play by quickly passing it down to the last third of the pitch. Doing that creates several goal-threatening situations, especially for offensive players. Rasmus enjoyed it, and he was brought into several situations where he could score goals. Sturm Graz plays an audience-friendly football, says Højlund’s father.

The acceptance to sign for Sturm Graz came because they saw the club had done good preparatory work.

Sturm Graz went as far as creating videos of how Rasmus would fit in, and then they presented them to Rasmus Hojlund’s Parents.

The club answered all their questions and convinced them their son had made the right thing. They (Anders and Kirsten) bought the idea.

And while Højlund’s career has been turbocharged with Sturm Graz, fans of FC Copenhagen wished their club had not let him go.

Although it wasn’t possible to have him back, the fans could only rejoice with his progress and hope he gets called to the national team.

At the same time, these FC Copenhagen fans were upset that their club invested in the wrong strikers. And the fact that they would not find a place for Højlund in their team.

A team that many know has suffered greatly from a lack of strikers since the departure of their Viking warrior, Andreas Cornelius.

Beyond Austria:

In Austrian Sturm Graz, Rasmus Højlund got far more confidence than he experienced in FCK.

In the process of shooting down the Austrian Bundesliga with his 12 goals in less than half of a season, top European clubs got alerted. And there came a transfer battle for the Dane.

Newcastle was first mentioned, but it was revealed that Rasmus Højlund was allegedly looking towards Italy.

That made Atalanta quickly join the battle for Højlund’s signature. On 27 August 2022, he signed with the Serie A club in a €17 million deal.

After joining the Italian team, the Scandinavian forward maintained a meteoric career trajectory.

With a powerful partnership alongside Ademola Lookman and Teun Koopmeiners, Rasmus netted goals reminiscent of Erling Haaland’s signature style.

International career:

In 2022, which was his breakout year, Hojlund didn’t make the list for the FIFA World Cup selection. This was because he was still trying to establish his presence in the Danish national team.

For that FIFA World Cup, the national team coach, Kasper Hjulmand, decided to go with experience by selecting Kasper Dolberg, Yussuf Poulsen, and Martin Braithwaite.

Before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Rasmus was included in the last two UEFA Nations League matches against France and Croatia.

His absence at the FIFA tournament raised criticism, especially on the fact that none of the Danish strikers had been playing particularly well at club level.

After Denmark’s disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup, Hjulmand made adjustments in his Euro 2023 qualifiers team.

Rasmus’ goal-scoring form with Atalanta BC earned him a starting spot as Denmark’s #9. The rising Dane didn’t disappoint as he justified his March 2023 national team call with goals. Rasmus became the big hero when he secured Denmark a hat-trick at the start of the 2024 UEFA European Championship Qualifying.

Indeed, nobody had a better international break than the Powerhouse, who announced himself on the European stage. According to UEFA’s website, he, as I write this Bio, ranks number 1 among the EURO 2024 qualifying top scorers.

Judging by his impressive goal-scoring form, the Dane is far from becoming a national star like Christian Eriksen. And his popularity is fast eclipsing that of Thomas Delaney, Pierre Emile Højberg and Andreas Christensen.

In addition, Rasmus’ great goal numbers with Atalanta B.C. has brought the people of Denmark hope.

The Danish fans found renewed hope that helped them forget the disappointment of their early exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar. The rest, as they say, is history.

Love Life of Rasmus Hojlund and Laura:

The fact that he scores lots of goals and keeps his feet firmly planted on the ground proves that he is success-bound.

And there is a saying that behind every successful Danish Striker comes a glamorous WAG. Now, let’s present Rasmus Hojlund’s girlfriend, Laura, to you.

Rasmus Hojlund's success on the field is matched by his strong relationship with his glamorous girlfriend, Laura, the supportive force behind the Danish striker.

Rasmus Hojlund’s success on the field is matched by his strong relationship with his glamorous girlfriend, Laura, the supportive force behind the Danish striker.

Højlund has a special goal celebration dedicated to the love of his life, Laura.

When he scored his 7th league goal for Atalanta (in the 2022/2023 season), the Dane celebrated by forming an ‘L’ with his fingers. This was followed by a kiss to Laura, his girlfriend and the words;

“It was for you honey”.

The Euphoric Young Striker also made the ‘L’ sign with his fingers when he became a hero after scoring a hat trick against Finland on March 23rd 2023. Speaking to TV 2 Sport after the game, Rasmus said,

It was for my girlfriend, Laura. And then I had agreed with Trygfonden, where I promised a boy called Loki that I would make the “L” for him and my girlfriend when I score.

Our research findings reveal that Rasmus and his girlfriend, Laura, were born in the same year, 2003. As of 2023, the two love birds were not living together in the same country.

When asked why, Rasmus Hojlund replied that living together with Laura was not on the drawing board at that time. This brings us to the personality of the Danish Forward, which we’ll explain in the next section.

Personality:

Outside football, who is Rasmus Hojlund?

To start with, the Danish striker is a courted gentleman, an Athlete who strives to focus exclusively on his mental development.

Rasmus has in him a vast amount of natural self-confidence. He, who is down to earth, is always ready for any challenges that come his way.

Rasmus Højlund is aware of what he has achieved (from a career perspective) within a short period of time.

Despite his meteoric rise, the Dane has his feet planted firmly on the ground. Rasmus once acknowledged that his football journey had gone a little faster than he had dared or hoped for.

Despite his young age of 20, his experience in the year 2022 has developed and made him mature.

Today, Rasmus is now aware of what he has to do as a Centre Forward and how he can become smarter on the pitch. He is also aware that things can go negatively on the pitch, as other strikers have experienced.

Dissecting the above statement, Højlund is someone who believes that things can go up and down in football. So every day, he prepares himself to have the mentality to rise up each time he experiences any period of decline.

On the streets of Bergamo (Italy), there are signs of Hojlund being a football hero for many Atalanta fans.

The blonde Dane, as people describe him, is undoubtedly one of the most popular young players in the whole of Italy. He is down-to-earth and hardly says no to fans whenever they ask him for pictures or autographs.

Rasmus Hojlund Lifestyle:

During the off-season, the Danish Striker behaves like Jose Mourinho, who enjoys visiting African holiday destinations.

One of Hojlund’s favourite vacation spots is spending time at the renowned Chwaka Beach in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Hojlund relishes African getaways like the famous Chwaka Beach in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Does Rasmus own a car in 2023:

When interviewed, the Athlete revealed that he has not yet gotten the luxury of time to celebrate his football rise. Hojlund further said that his plan in 2023, was to go out and buy a car for himself.

However, the Dane did manage to get a driver’s licence just before he switched from his childhood club (FC Copenhagen) to Sturm Graz.

Rasmus Hojlund Family Life:

The Danish footballer’s household is thrilled to see their main provider experience a meteoric rise in his career within just one year.

Much like Amadou Onana, Rasmus ensures his family benefits from his success, including financially. Let’s delve into more details about his family members.

About Rasmus Hojlund Father:

An interesting fact about Anders Højlund is that he played football alongside Kasper Hjulmand, the current manager of Denmark’s national team, in the 1990s for the Danish club, Boldklubben af 1893.

Despite their friendship, Hjulmand’s professionalism meant he did not select Anders’ son for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Ultimately, this decision proved beneficial as Rasmus began thriving after the tournament.

In 2022, upon receiving his national team call-up, Rasmus shared a special moment with his father. Recounting the day Kasper Hjulmand called him, Rasmus said:

“I learned the day before the team selection that Kasper Hjulmand would call me.

I booked a hotel room with my dad that day, and we shared a heartfelt embrace.

A few tears streamed down my face, and I was a bit overwhelmed, but hearing my name in the selection was truly incredible.”

Anders Højlund served as the first coach for Rasmus and his brothers, Emil and Oscar, and always dreamed of his son surpassing his own career achievements.

Anders never played outside of Denmark and didn’t win an international cap with the national team. He takes pride in Rasmus’s accomplishments.

One of Anders’ fondest memories of Rasmus’s early career was his son’s determination to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo. Recalling a conversation with Rasmus in a Sportek interview, Anders shared:

“ONE DAY, HE TOLD ME HE WOULD MIMIC CRISTIANO RONALDO IN EVERY WAY. SO HE BEGAN DOING PHYSICAL EXERCISES EVERY NIGHT, EVEN WHEN HE WAS SICK WITH THE FLU.”

About Rasmus Hojlund Mother:

Today, Kirsten Winther reaps the benefits of her son Rasmus’s successful career.

When he received funds from his transfer to Atalanta, he thought about the most influential people in his life. Among the first he considered was his mother, Kirsten, to whom he sent some money.

Without someone like Kirsten Winther in Rasmus’ life, he would not have come this far in such a short time.

After his first-ever international match against Croatia in September 2022, Kirsten Winther was the first person her son called, followed by his father and then his brothers (Oscar and Emil).

Hojlund once encountered a situation where he was abused by Austrian Rapid Wien’s travelling fans after they said things that were not nice about his Mother.

It happened when he scored a goal a few minutes after the start of the match. During his celebration, Rasmus placed his hand around one of his ears as a signal that the opposing fans weren’t loud anymore.

His provocative goal celebration angered the Rapid Wien fans, who began throwing beer at FC Copenhagen teammates. Rasmus, in an interview with krone TV further stated;

Rapid Wien fans weren’t exactly shouting sweet nothings about my mother.

Following Rasmus’ transfer to SK Sturm Graz, he had the chance to face his old rivals, the Austrian team Rapid Wien.

When his team clashed with them at the Merkur Arena, Rasmus Højlund was met with a less-than-friendly reception.

The frosty reception was a consequence of the Dane’s previous actions (his goal celebration gesture) while playing for F.C. Copenhagen.

About Rasmus Hojlund Brothers:

Here, we’ll give you extra information about the football-mad siblings and twins born to Anders and Kirsten.

First, we all know they started playing football in their living room before their passion for the ball game led their Dad to build a basement pitch in their home in Hørsholm.

Rasmus Højlund, who is the eldest child, take the honour of being the family’s breadwinner and greatest talent.

Today, he sets solid examples for his two twin brothers (Oscar and Emi), who are now thriving with Denmark under-17 (as of 2023). Now, let’s discuss the Hojlund twins individually.

In Copenhagen, people have grown fond of the Dane brothers with the surname Højlund. And it is true that the Højlund family was a major supplier of talent to FC Copenhagen.

Emil Højlund:

Rasmus’ brother, who is a twin, was born on the 4th day of January 2005. Emil Højlund’s playing position is Attack – Centre-Forward.

He, who can also thrive in the attacking midfield position, agreed to a contract to join FC Copenhagen U19 on the 1st of July, 2021.

Emil is often regarded as a complete striker who can play in different positions of attack.

Like his big brother, he has technique (good finishing), speed, physique, as well as good vision with the ball. As of December 2022, Transfermarkt puts Emil’s market value at €150k.

As I write Rasmus Hojlund’s Biography, it is rumoured that the Austrian club Sturm Graz is interested in signing Emil.

Yes, football fans can easily understand if Sturm Graz has an extra good eye for Emil after his older brother’s achievements in Austria.

Considering Emil’s career rise, we wouldn’t rule out the future possibility of him and Rasmus leading the Denmark national team attack.

About Oscar Højlund:

His full names are Oscar Winther Højlund, and he was born on the 4th day of January 2005.

Unlike his twin brother, Emil, who is a Striker, Oscar is a dynamic and energetic box-to-box midfielder. He is the type of midfielder who has an offensive vision as well as a defensive toughness to his game.

Yes, I can see the similarities between us. First, he is fast, and I’m also fast; he’s left-footed, and I’m also left-footed. Again, he’s strong, and I’m strong too.

He was raised alongside his twin brothers (Oscar and Emil) in Hørsholm, north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Rasmus has a girlfriend who goes by the name Laura.

The Danish professional footballer has a sporting background and was raised in a football-loving household. Rasmus inherited his speed from both parents.

Anders Højlund, his Dad, was fast as a soccer player in the 1990s. And his mum, Kirsten Winther, was also fast as a 100-meter runner.

As a child, Rasmus Højlund had a talent for different sports. Asides from football, the Dane practised tennis, swimming and badminton. His football talent was discovered at a beach when he (a two-year-old) kicked a ball that was far bigger than what his legs could carry.

Before the age of nine, Rasmus stood at a crossroads. He struggled with choosing between a swimming and football career.

At that time, he set some times in Denmark as one of the best kid swimmers. Even Rasmus Hojlund’s parents earlier had no idea of how good their son was in a swimming pool.

Rasmus trusted his competitive nature, and he decided to continue with football. As a child, little Rasmus and his Dad, Anders, played a lot of football together in their living room.
