Early Childhood:

Renato Veiga grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, with his family. Nelson Veiga, the head of the house, was a wonderful father who loved and adored his home, while his mother, Tania, blossomed in a blissful feminine aura, as you have noticed above. The birth of their first son after six years of marriage was an overwhelming mix of joy. They finally hold a tiny person who is a beautiful blend of both in their arms.

The family increased after Renato Veiga’s sister, Lura, was born. Finally, the left back had a sibling with whom he could run around and have fun. But his parents were still in progress and wanted another offspring. Four hundred fifty-two weeks back, on the 24th of November, 2015 (calculated at the time of writing), Tania is seen with a baby bump in the photo below. Nelson Veiga, Renato’s father, has always been a man with a loving heart. The former footballer was not reserved in public adoring for his children or wife. In actions and words, he showed his family what it meant to love and appreciate the little things in life. Nelson César Tavares Rodrigues da Veiga came to earth on the 9th of Feb 1978 in Lisbon, Portugal. He had a 20-year career as a central defender. He began his career in local clubs like Agualva (1988 to 1990), Sporting Cp (1990 to 1991), and Estrela Amadora (1993). Renato’s father moved to the team Estoril’s senior squad after four years. On the 1st of Jul, 2000, he left to join Vitória de Setúbal. Two years passed, and Nelson moved to Naval 1º de Maio in 2003 while helping this club to their first promotion.

Leaving the shores of Portugal, Renato Veiga’s dad became a team member of AC Omonia and AEK Larnaca FC for four seasons. There were times when he was without a club in the 10/11 season, but he eventually returned to his birth country and signed up for the Vilafranquense. It was there that Nelson stayed before his retirement, ending his football journey.

Instead of a 100% formal school setting, Nelson enrolled his son in the Sporting CP academy. The rookie joined Sporting CP in 2010 when he was seven. Renato stayed with the academy for three years before moving to Real Massamá. This football club was founded in 1951 in Queluz and is a 30-minute drive from Renato Veiga’s hometown in Lisbon. Nelson’s son stayed with this team for six years, from 2013 to 2019.

The following season, Veiga returned, joined the Sporting Cp B squad, and left the youth academy. At this point, the Portuguese athlete was ready for a new adventure outside the youth team. He made his debut on the 12th of September 2020, and the following month, his first goal.

Renato Veiga Road to Fame:

On the 31st of January 2023, in the 22/23 season, Renato went on a loan transfer to Augsburg. The former Bundesliga left-back made his debut after two months in a losing game against Mainz in February. The Lisbon player Veiga was underperforming, and after six months, Augsburg ended the loan before its expiration in December 2023. Sadly, he had to return to his parent team, Sporting CP.

Veiga’s return from the Bundesliga on the 15th of August marked a significant shift in his career. Just 15 days later, on the 28th, he made another bold move, this time to Basel in the Swiss Super League. His arrival was amidst the departure of Riccardo Calafiori to Bologna and the joining of Zeki Amdouni. Renato, who had previously struggled to find his form at FC Augsburg, surprised everyone by scoring his first goal in his debut against the St. Jakob Park club, reigniting the belief in his talent.

Although the deal with Basel was supposed to last for four years, it was cut short by Premier League Chelsea, a seven-year contract signed on the 12th of July 2024. The now EPL left-back made same-season arrivals with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (CM), Pedro Neto (LW), Tosin Adarabioyo and João Félix (his second return).
