Edith was far from the end of her road after going through the drop-freezing and high sun peak through the scorching desert. Crossing the border of Morcoco to get to Mellia was a hell in description. The border between these two countries is heavily fortified with tall razor-wired fences. And immigrants go through the blood-scorching tasks of climbing these demarcations to cross over.
If she hadn’t gone through that process, dealing with the men in charge of these borders would have been a Herculean task. As an immigrant, the only jobs available for her were menial work. That could barely sustain the family. Hunger and starvation were their company most of the days for the mother and child. After saving up a little money, Samu’s mom moved her home to the La Macarena neighbourhood. The footballer’s sister was born there, making it two children.
At this time, Samu was already eight years old. And the only thing that kept him company was his ball. Although Samuel Omorodion’s sister kept the home lively, it was not enough for the young lad.
