The Need for Speed:

At the age of 17, Sven was already approaching his towering height of 1.95 meters (6 feet 5 inches).

He was already tall, big like a bulldozer, and knew how to clash with big strikers. But against smaller and faster guys came his weakness, as there was an issue with speed.

They made him begin training with top senior athletes. In no time, Sven Botman’s explosiveness earned him a deserved place at the Ajax Reserves.

He never played for the Ajax Senior Team:

Sven Botman developed at great speed. From the age of 18 and after winning two Youth League campaigns, he established himself as one of the important players of Jong Ajax.

After scoring two great goals for Jong Ajax (the club’s reserve team), a Dutch club (SC Heerenveen) stole him away from Ajax.
