For Biography starters, he bears the nickname “Tigrinho”. And his full names are Vitor Hugo Roque Ferreira. On February 28, 2005, in Timóteo, Brazil, Vitor Roque was born to Hercília Roque Ferreira and Juvenal “Tigrão”. He came into the world as one of two siblings, alongside his sister Vitória Roque, born to Hercília and Juvenal.
Hercília and Juvenal are living their dreams as they witness their son’s accomplishments in football.
The proud Mum and Dad are a shining example of the impact that devoted parents can have on their child’s sporting success.
Growing-Up Years:
Vitor Roque spent his childhood years in the Brazilian town of Timóteo, located in the state of Minas Gerais.
His early years were marked by his humble beginnings and, of course, his curiosity and love for football.
Roque was a well-behaved and loving child who always seemed to find joy in the little things life had to offer.
While researching, we found that one of Vitor’s most cherished possessions from his childhood was this scruffy teddy bear.
Vitor Roque grew up alongside an only sibling, his sister, Vitoria. Born five years apart, the siblings’ parents (Hercília and Juvenal) decided to give them names with the shared initial “V”.
The names, which are derived from Latin origins, have similar meanings: “conqueror” or “winner.”
And, over the years, it has symbolized Vitor and Vitória Roque’s shared connection and unbreakable sibling bond.
The sibling bond between Vitor and Vitoria does extend beyond their support for each other’s career dreams.
They, who are born to Hercília and Juvenal, also share a love for dancing, a hobby of theirs that has existed since their childhood days.
Here is a video of Vitor Roque and his sister dancing at their home in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Similar to the dance steps of Emerson Royal.
Vitor Roque’s Early Years:
For the rapidly ascending Brazilian footballer, the passion for the beautiful game of football began as soon as he could walk.
From his earliest memories, Vitor’s childhood dream was to proudly wear the iconic Brazilian jersey.
This lifelong aspiration finally became a reality on March 4, 2023, when he received the much-anticipated call-up to the Brazilian national team.
The journey to proudly wear the Seleção Canarinha jersey commenced with a pivotal decision made by Vitor Roque’s parents.
Juvenal “Tigrão” and his wife, Hercília Roque Ferreira, chose to relocate from Timóteo to a football-friendly Coronel Fabriciano in search of better opportunities.
In their new home, young Vitor quickly developed a strong affinity for kicking the soccer ball.
Under Juvenal’s watchful eye and guidance, the boy built a solid foundation, by honing his skills for his burgeoning football career.
Vitor Roque Family Background:
The Timóteo native hails from a household deeply passionate about the beautiful game of football. While residing in Coronel Fabriciano, Vitor was affectionately dubbed “Tigrinho” in tribute to his father, Juvenal “Tigrão,” a former footballer.
Vitor Roque’s football talent comes from the genes of his father, Juvenal. His Dad was a defensive midfielder who once played amateur football in Minas Gerais.
Although Juvenal was unable to reach the pinnacle of the sport, he channelled his talent into his son and vowed to vicariously experience his football aspirations through him.
It’s important to note that Vitor Roque’s upbringing was not one of affluence but rooted in a middle-class background.
The combined earnings of Hercília and Juvenal’s jobs provided their family with a comfortable living situation within a middle-class neighbourhood.
In the family home where they once resided, Vitor Roque’s mother (a professional cook) was renowned for her delicious dishes.
Vitor adored it, especially when he was served with chicken, mayonnaise, ketchup and Fried bananas.
This popular dish in Brazilian cuisine, called “bananas fritas,” was frequent on his lunch menu.
The food (fried chicken, bananas with mayonnaise and ketchup) was often available almost daily, as revealed by Vitor’s sister, Vitória.
A devoted Christian home:
Our comprehensive account of Vitor Roque’s family background must include the fact that his parents are devout Christians.
Alongside his sister, Vitória, they were raised with an emphasis on the significance of maintaining a strong Christian faith, which included engaging in prayer.
In a touching moment from his younger years, Vitor Roque’s mother was captured here praying alongside him, demonstrating their shared commitment to their faith.
Vitor Roque Family Origin:
Both parents of the Athletico Paranaense footballer hold Brazilian nationality. Vitor Roque hails from Timóteo, a Brazilian town with a population of around 90,568 people, located in the state of Minas Gerais in Southeastern Brazil.
The following map gallery depicts Vitor Roque’s roots and origins.
Vitor Roque Ethnicity:
The footballer from Timóteo identifies with a demographic group in his country known as Pardo or Brown People.
In essence, Vitor Roque belongs to an ethnic group that encompasses a blend of Brazilian natives, as well as European and African ancestries.
Notable examples of footballers from this ethnic group include Antony Santos, the legendary Neymar Jr., and others.
Vitor Roque Education:
When he approached the right age, he began attending Cruzeirinho’s football school. This school is in Coronel Fabriciano, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
The best memories of his schooling days can best be told by his school teacher, who goes by the name Benedito Otaviano Vieira.
This teacher, also known as Nenem Salame and nicknamed Baby Salami (via FaceBook page), gave an account of Vitor’s schooling days. In his words;
“At the time of school, the school kids would invited Vitor to play other games. But he always replied that he only wanted to play only with the ball”
Benedito Otaviano also revealed that Vitor had a strong intellectual or mental ability. At the young age of six, the boy had developed good problem-solving skills.
Also, he had developed a good personality in himself. More obvious was the fact that Vitor didn’t talk much and was always quiet.
Alcides Bassoto Neto (nicknamed Tidinho) was another teacher who impacted knowledge in Vitor during his schooling days.
He can also testify that the youngster never had any trouble at school, and neither did he have a memory of indiscipline.
Vitor Roque Biography – Football Story:
Cruzeirinho soccer school was where the prodigy of Brazilian football took his first steps with the ball, starting from the age of six.
Vitor Roque had an extra edge to his football upbringing simply because his family lived right in front of their neighbourhood’s local field.
So after each training, his other teammates would trek back home. While they did that, Vitor always stayed behind to do extra practice.
In his early football years, Vitor was seen as a short (below-average height) and stocky midfielder. A kid who (from the age of six) always made a difference whenever his age category played football matches.
Because Vitor Roque’s technical, mental and physical disparity was way above average, his coach was forced to make him play against older players.
The idea wasn’t to expose the boy to harm (to bigger footballers). Rather, it was to push to the limits, the football Jewel that the Cruzeirinho soccer school has in their hands.
Vitor, as expected, passed all challenges and test that was placed on his way. He did achieve that with an attitude that is similar to that of a professional, despite being a little boy of 6 or 7.
Explaining the personality of her son, Vitor, here is what his mother, Hercília Roque Ferreira, said;
“Vitor always knew what he wanted and where he wants to go”
Hercília Roque Ferreira further revealed that since her son was a little boy, he always has stayed focused and was decisive.
Roque’s Mum said that Vitor formed the habit of leaving birthday parties too early so he could sleep early because of a match or training – in the next day.
Vitor Roque Bio – Journey to Fame:
The year 2015 was a defining moment for the Athlete who had just clocked 10.
In that year, Vitor Roque’s career had moved to a whole new level, and there were top Brazilian clubs who wanted the 10-year-old to come attend their test trials.
In 2015, América Futebol Clube (MG) won the race to sign the talented kid. The entire member of Vitor Roque’s family (his Mum, Sister, with the exception of his Dad) decided to change residence.
At the time Hercília and Vitoria moved to Belo Horizonte, Juvenal (the head of the house) stayed back in Coronel Fabriciano because of his job.
Despite a distance of 3 hr 43 min (197.4 km) separating both father and son, Juvenal made himself available.
The proud Dad did that through constant calls and other forms of communication. Now, here is a rare 2015 photo of Vitor Roque on his first day of visiting his new club, América-MG.
At the peak of his midfield prowess, Vitor Hugo Roque continued his career with América Mineiro. Initially playing as a defensive midfielder for his new team, the young athlete showcased remarkable attacking skills.
Recognizing his potential, the coaches at América-MG transitioned him from a midfielder to a centre forward, allowing him to fully utilize his attack talents.
The road to greatness:
We have a video clip that demonstrates Vitor’s exceptional attacking prowess and his ability to outmanoeuvre defenders.
Much like Phil Foden, Vitor was a football prodigy who honed his skills in dribbling and became known for scoring remarkable goals. This can be seen from this footage.
The Luciano Schuai impact:
Since the age of 10, when he passed the América Mineiro evaluation test, one man (his coach) has been at the forefront of helping the boy achieve success.
Luciano Schuai is his name, and in an interview with São Paulo daily newspaper (Estadão), he said this about Vitor.
“It is true that when you plant a good seed, you reap only good fruits.
I had the honor of starting work with him since the under-10 category and, right away, I realized that Vitor was a special boy
He, Vitor, has always showed that he wanted to go far in life.”
As time went on, coach Luciano became a close friend of Vitor Roque’s family. The support of the coach was fundamental to the Striker’s success in football.
Coach Luciano Schuai also revealed that the footballer also has a well-structured family, and he always listens to his advice and that of his parents.
The relationship between Vitor and Luciano also extended beyond América Mineiro’s training grounds.
When the club was not in session, the youngster and his mentor would arrange for special training. Luciano would then take hours to work on Victor, helping him develop both physically and emotionally.
Vitor Roque Biography – Rise to Fame:
The promise of Brazilian football, as his fans labelled him, stood out in four consecutive Athletico seasons. On the field, Vitor grew a lot. He (who was considered different from his rivals) always edged out in important games.
Roque always made his team become victorious, and he collected the top scorer and best player awards.
He held his spot for seasons as the most outstanding player in his age group. Roque was awarded top scorer in the Under-14 Mineiro Championship (scoring eight goals).
Vitor honed his natural ability to score, and that made his América Mineiro team lose only once in the space of two years.
The team didn’t lose in a whole season, all thanks to Vitor (a Baller with gigantic potential) leading the attack on the field.
The Cruzeiro defeat and how it led to the club snatching Vitor Roque:
Once upon a time, there was a traditional under-15 category competition in 2018 known as the 14th Eccellente Cruzeiro International Cup.
It was organized by the International Business Department of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. Vitor Roque’s América Mineiro team participated.
In that unforgettable final, Vitor helped América Mineiro win the Eccellente Cruzeiro International Cup.
The unprecedented title was won after he helped his team beat Cruzeiro, a bitter rival. During the title celebration, Vitor’s team was awarded a check in the amount of R$ 15,000.
Seeing that they had lost the Eccellente Cruzeiro International Cup, Cruzeiro started a plot to snatch Vitor from his parent club.
Treated like a true jewel, the striker (at age 13) knew he was attracting interest from a rival.
Vitor, who was treated as the football Jewel of América-MG, was not allowed to leave the club.
In what we describe as a controversial departure, Vitor Roque, in May 2019, transferred to Cruzeiro. We’ll tell you more about the Cruzeiro transfer controversy later in this Bio.
Roque, for two seasons, continued his academy football with his new club – which he recently played against in a final.
While there, he was affectionately nicknamed the ‘tank’ simply because he was so strong and because he broke through all manner of defences.
Vitor Roque’s bright start to life in Cruzeiro youth football saw him conquering one of the most important trophies of his life (as of 2019).
The Striker helped his team to win the International Campus Football championship, which was held in Haimen, Guangdong, China.
Becoming a Professional and Rising to several occasions:
On the 25th day of May 2021, the joy of Vitor Roque’s parents and sibling (Vitoria) knew no bounds.
The family witnessed their precious lastborn signing his first professional contract. Vitor was praised by his manager, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, for his successful debut.
Within a season after signing his first senior contract, Roque accepted a bigger challenge. Athletico Paranaense did not hesitate in breaking his R$ 24 million release clause.
The club gave him a five-year deal, and Vitor’s transfer became the biggest (financially) in the club’s history.
Vitor Roque repaid the faith Athletico Paranaense had in him by producing plenty of moments of magic.
He, at the age of 17 years and 121 days, became the youngest athlete to score in the Copa Libertadores tournament. Vitor broke achieved this honour on the 29th of June 2022.
In addition, he scored Athletico Paranaense’s club’s 100th goal in the history of the South American competition. Watch Vitor Roque’s skills and goals that brought him his first fame as a professional.
Continental Championship winner and Europe Transfer:
The 2023 South American U-20 Championship became the continental competition that fetched Vitor global recognition.
The Brazilian Athlete, alongside Andrey Santos (the new Chelsea recruit at that time), was instrumental in Brazil winning the tournament.
Both footballers scored six goals each (a goal above Real Madrid’s Alvaro Rodriguez) to clinch the Golden Boot title.
At the time of writing Vitor Roque’s Biography, there was a multitude of European transfer interest in his name.
FC Barcelona was reportedly desperate to muscle out other clubs in the Brazilian transfer market for the youngster.
This comes following Real Madrid’s achieved signing of Endrick Felipe, the country’s projected next big star after Neymar.
The rest, as we say of the footballer who began sleeping with trophies at the age of 18, is now history.
Who is Vitor Roque’s Girlfriend?
Achieving so much before the age of 19 (like winning the 2023 South American U-20 Championship) proves that the free-scoring Brazilian wonderkid is bound for success.

Now, let’s tell you how Juvena, Hercília and Vitoria have shown their unwavering support for Vitor’s budding football career.
Vitor Roque’s Father:
Juvenal Ferreira celebrates his birthday every 18th of March, which makes him a Pisces. Anyone who knows the head of the Vitor Roque family can testify that he is a man that is focused on principles and values.
Mr Ferreira handles his son’s career decisions. Juvenal is a father who can go as far as fighting for his son’s interest, as in the case of the 2019 transfer controversy. Now, let’s tell you more about that.
The transfer issue with Vitor:
In 2019, Juvenal “Tigrão”, Vitor’s Dad, was involved in a transfer dispute between América Mineiro and Cruzeiro.
It became so serious that Juvenal had to file a document to report the situation at Brazil’s Public Ministry for Children and Youth.
The document denounced the pressure that the Roque family had to go through in the dispute between the clubs, which affected their 14-year-old underaged son. Now, let’s tell you what really happened.
Vitor Roque was an América Mineiro player starting from when he was aged 10 to 13 years old. Usually, the age of 14 is the minimum age that a footballer can be allowed to sign a contract.
Before Vitor’s 14th birthday (February 28th 2019), he moved to a rival club, Cruzeiro. For reasons of being over-pressured, Juvenal Ferreira did not allow his son to appear for a pre-contract meeting.
This meeting was set by América Mineiro – on the 4th of February (a few weeks before Vitor’s 14th birthday).
It is pertinent to state that Vitor Roque’s parents were free to choose a club for their son.
However, the situation of the rival club, Cruzeiro, snatching América Mineiro’s brightest talent days before his 14th birthday, angered the club.
América Mineiro felt since they shaped Vitor’s career (since he was ten years old), they deserved to have him sign a contract.
The club went on to accuse Vitor Roque’s father of allowing his son to leave through the back door on the eve of his 14th birthday.
They accused the boy of refusing to sign a contract with them without any justification. Because of that, América Mineiro decided to seek justice.
The club asked for compensation for the transfer of Vitor Roque and also for his misconduct.
Taking action:
Sports website, GloboEsporte.com reported that América Mineiro had first filed a complaint against their rival, Cruzeiro, with the Public Ministry of Labor.
In that document, it alleges harassment by the other party. The goal of Brazil’s Public Ministry of Labor was to assess the case and check for any irregularities.
Vitor Roque’s Dad reacted by reporting the club to Brazil’s Public Prosecutor’s Office for Children and Youth.
In his report, Juvenal Ferreira, Vitor Roque’s father, claims he was pressured by his son’s former club, América Mineiro.
In the end, mediation was made to reach an agreement for all parties. Cruzeiro recognized they were wrong and made Vitor reintroduce himself to América Mineiro so he could properly conclude the legalities of his departure.
The management of América-MG revealed that it was aware of the document filed by Vitor Roque’s Dad at the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
They refused to comment further on it as they knew it favoured the child (since Vitor was a minor).
América Mineiro further concluded by saying that they “hope the issue will resolve itself in the best possible way.”
The club knew that Vitor Roque was the true victim, and he (who was under 14 years) was unaccountable and did not answer for his actions. In the end, it was a victory for the Roque family, thanks to the efforts of the head, Juvenal Ferreira.
Vitor Roque’s Mother:
Hercilia celebrates her birthday every 17th of April, which makes her an Aries. According to Vitor’s Mum, the road to success for her son hasn’t been easy.
And there were times she saw him crying, a time Vitor dealt with the constant pressure of adolescent career expectations.
Sometimes there are moments when Hercilia Roque feels his sons’ career burden is so heavy for him to carry.
