After graduating from elementary school, Daichi left his hometown club (Kids FC). That year, in 2009, he joined the prestigious Gamba Osaka Junior Youth. Joining this academy meant one thing – that he had to leave his family home for Kishiwada City in Osaka Prefecture.

Because his grandmother’s house was in Kishiwada City, it became easy for Daichi to settle in the new city. Every day, he (after school period) would go to practice for hours. Playing football at that time was easy, and it took time for Kamada to get used to school life.

After leaving Ehime, where his parents raised him, the Athlete later became plagued by tough competition at his new club.

The strong quest to maintain his high performance saw changes in his body during his youth days with Gamba Osaka. During that period, Daichi Kamada felt very sober.

At that time, Daichi Kamada suffered from multiple injuries. These injuries came at a time he just began the first year of junior high school.

To make matters worst, the poor boy broke his arm bone, which forced him to undergo surgery.

Also, in Kamada’s junior schooling years, Daichi’s muscles couldn’t keep up with his hip bone growth.

Feeling so much pain just two days before a summer national championship, he almost gave up on football. With the never-ending back injuries, Daichi, at some point, cried and said the following words to himself;

Despite the difficult early career years, the Ehime-born youngster never lost his passion for the beautiful game. During the spring of his third year in junior high school, Daichi Kamada’s parents presented a proposal to their son.

Takako and Mikio discussed with their son about the need to join a high school athletic team. They said that by doing that, he would get a better opportunity to become a professional with opportunities. Also, J-League clubs are more likely to scout and seek his services.

To become a professional with Gamba Osaka (his current team), Daichi Kamada knew he must be their number one or two best players.

In the end, Gamba told him the truth. They revealed to him that he (Kamada) was far from being their best player. Again that with his current performance, it would be hard for him to get promoted and become a professional.

The big decision:

Confirming what his parents had earlier advised, Daichi Kamada decided to leave the soccer academy. He enrolled at Higashiyama High School in Kyoto.

During his first year of high school, Kamada lived with other students in a dormitory. In the second year, he moved to Kansai, where he did a part-time job, as well as playing soccer.

In total, Daichi Kamada spent three years at Higashiyama High school. Those years were a period in which he (who rose to become captain) developed more confidence.

Kamada led his team to reach the final of a championship – the popular Kyoto Prefecture tournament.

A very competitive Daichi Kamada, who was still unknown, was more interested in winning all goals and assist numbers.

Initially sent on loan to J.League U-22 Selection (a Japanese football team that played in J3 League), he proved that he was worthy of a first-team loan recall. Daichi began his life at Sagan Tosu on solid footing. He got into the watchful eyes of Eintracht Frankfurt scouts after scoring 13 goals.

In June 2017, Kamada opened a new career chapter as he joined the German Bundesliga outfit, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Daichi’s Dad always keeps an eye on all his son’s matches. Because most football is played in Germany, Fukushige stays awake until 10 pm (Japan time), when Bundesliga matches usually start. Then he would be awake by 4 and 5 am to watch either the Europa or Champions League. After each game, both father and son would exchange messages.

Daichi Kamata Mother:

Takako is mostly described as the record keeper of the family. When her husband was busy with work, Daichi Kamata’s Mum supported their son by driving him in her car for his practice sessions. Takako, who is calmer than her husband, gives her son more freedom.
