“At a young age, I played for my local team, Seedfield. It was a good team, to be fair. Several players from that team ended up in different academies. I was one of about six players scouted by Manchester City when I was around eight years old.”

Throughout this period, his parents’ mantra of “Education First, Before Football” remained a guiding principle. Kieran continued to balance his studies with his growing passion for football while attending Woodhey High School in Ramsbottom.
His parents allowed him to mix both education and football at this time.
Trippier is always grateful for the assistance of his teachers and the cooperation of Woodhey’s school management, who granted him permission to mix football with academics.
“I was really close to my headmaster, Mr. Braidley,” Kieran recalled. “City used to pull me out of school two days a week to go and train. I got Tuesdays and Thursdays off school, but I think the headmaster saw potential in me and allowed it, so I was lucky in that respect.
I actually really enjoyed school. I was close with the teachers, and my three brothers went there too. I also loved doing athletics for my school. There was a significant cross-country event held at Heaton Park where all the local schools gathered, and I managed to win the long-distance running competition. Despite this achievement, football remained my top priority.”
